Winter Isnt Asking You To Bloom

There are seasons in life that ask us to bloom.

And then there are seasons that quietly whisper…

“Rest.”

Lately, I’ve found myself standing in one of those quieter seasons.

Navigating perimenopause. Supporting someone I love through grief. Holding space for my family. Running a home. Caring for guests who arrive at Prana Estate seeking peace.

Some days I realise I’ve spent every ounce of my energy caring for everyone else, only to discover there is very little left for me.

Perhaps you know that feeling too.

Winter has a beautiful way of reminding us that nature never apologises for slowing down. The trees don’t question why they’ve let their leaves fall. The earth doesn’t rush to bloom before it’s ready.

Yet as women, we often expect ourselves to keep producing, nurturing, organising and giving, regardless of what season we’re in.

Perimenopause is its own season of change.

Grief is a season.

Motherhood has seasons.

Marriage has seasons.

Life asks different things of us at different times.

Maybe strength isn’t pushing through exhaustion.

Maybe strength is recognising when our body is asking us to soften.

To breathe.

To sit in the morning sun with a warm cup of tea.

To walk barefoot across the grass.

To say “not today” without guilt.

Healing isn’t always found in doing more.

Sometimes it’s found in allowing ourselves to simply be.

As we move through winter, my invitation is gentle:

Give yourself permission to honour the season you’re in.

Not the one you wish you were in.

The one you’re living today.

Because spring always returns.

But winter has wisdom worth listening to first.

🤍

With love,
